Once, there was a lonely apple sitting under a tree. Their sisters, long rotted, laid about patches of the surrounding grass. Uncharacteristically quiet. No one to pluck the apples into their awaiting baskets for a while now. No one at all. Was this all there was to existence? No, thought the apple, I want more than this.I want to be human! There — with a swirl of energy, the orchard glowed. And in the place of that one lonely apple... was a person!“Oh my god?!”The newly formed person leapt for joy, spun around with glee, yelling and whooping and celebrating. Their wish had worked! They were a fully realized human being!“Oh my goddd, I don’t know what I even wanna do first! Shopping? No— no money. Get a job? Eugh. Gaming? Swimming? Dancing? Oh! I know! First I’ll make soooo many friends!” They spun and danced until they collapsed under their Momma tree, “I’ll live every day to the fullest, I promise! This is the best day of my Life—“There was a resounding ‘CHOMP’.Ah.In all of her glee, she had not realized why there were no humans to properly pick the Orchard. They had all turned into Zombies. All of their yelling had drawn the closest one right to their side.“Fuck.”
